Morello is famed for his guitar style, which consists of blues, heavy metal, and punk hybrid riffs and funk/hip hop-inspired sounds. His guitar playing is also characterized by heavy use of guitar effects, such as delay, modulation, wah, harmonizers, distortion, feedback, and others in unique ways and combinations. The most recognizable effect in Morello's arsenal is the Digitech Whammy, which helps him create many of his sounds. Critically acclaimed, he is said to use the guitar in a unique and imaginative way; rather than just plucking the strings, his maneuvers include toggling between two pickups - one on and one off - while rubbing his hands on the strings over the pickups; uses the bridge pick up (his signature vinyl scratch effect used in "Bulls on Parade"). Offering my Strat to the feedback gods.... This is what can happen when plugging a Proco Turbo Rat pedal into a tiny Pignose amp. I've always enjoyed exploring feedback drones and the full harmonic capabilities of the electric guitar, emphasis on the word "electric". This resulting short is something of an homage to Pete Townshend, Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed's infamous "Metal Machine Music" and of course Sonic Youth. Enjoy and don't forget to turn it up!

Just woke up and decided to make a video. Nothing special, just dicking around with what ever comes to my mind. Yes I mess up, la de da im not trying to show off my guitar skills just showing people what the amp sounds like(I think I had the volume up to much). Which btw you cant really get a full since of until you hear it in person. Im playing on a 04' Black Fender Stratocaster made in Meh-He-Co(Mexico).The amp is a Pignose g40v. Its upgraded slightly, Its got a delta Demon 10" speaker and mesa power tubes. All n All. This is a great tube/valve amp. I paid $250 shipped for it and its in like new condition. Worth more then every penny. It cant compete with my Deville 212, but for the price you cant beat it.

Canadian music legend Gordon Lightfoot performs "unplugged" versions, without a microphone but with a battery-operated Pignose amp, of his classic "If You Could Read My Mind," along with "Diamond Joe," at the "L'Aquila Is In My Heart" Art Exhibition, at the Michelangelo Banquet Centre in Hamilton, Canada on September 6, 2009. Lightfoot agreed to lend his support to the event, which raised funds for earthquake relief in Aquila, Italy, upon the request of sculptor Gino Cavicchioli, who also unveiled a larger-than-life-sized bust of Lightfoot later in the afternoon. (Watch for another YouTube clip for that footage.) Note especially during "Diamond Joe" how Lightfoot turns to play personally for a gentleman seated at a table behind him. The man, battling a dangerous form of cancer, made the trip in especially from Quebec to see and meet his idol. A moving moment. (Unfortunately, word came in a couple of weeks after this performance that the gentleman had passed away.) After the day's events, Lightfoot stayed for a good hour-and-a-half posing for every picture and signing every autograph request that came his way. A class act.

Gear demo. Playing a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Studio Plus with Gibson '57 Classic pickup in the neck position, '57 Classic Plus in the bridge, through the Dan Armstrong Original Effects Blue Clipper fuzz box, then into a Pignose B100V 100w 6L6 tube amp head (which I yanked out of it's original 1x15 combo and built a plywood box for it which you can see right behind me there), into a Yamaha S412 4x12 cab loaded with Celestions. The amp is on about 7, all tone knobs on 5. Recorded with a Shure SM57 mic in my downstairs furnished living room. The mic is about seven inches out from the speaker, halfway between the dome and the edge. Then to M-Audio DMP3 mic preamp, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card, to hard drive of HP Pavilion PC, using Cool Edit Pro 2.0 editing software. The Blue Clipper doesn't seem to add or subtract any bottom as far as I can tell, which makes it ideal for bass guitar too (I've tried it and it's great). It also makes a solid state amp sound like a tube amp, I've used it with my blueface Acoustic Control Corporation 150 you see in the background on the right. By the way you can put the Blue Clipper anywhere in your effects chain, you don't have to have it hanging off your guitar but I think it's kind of cool like that. You can also swap two internal wires to plug into the amp instead of the guitar.

He was playing with a local bar band in a small club in Nashville when Zappa came in to see them: Frank gave me a list of difficult songs from several different records, and his instructions were, Figure out how to play and sing this the best you can, however you can. The music was pretty complicated for a guy who was just playing in a bar band. I had never played in odd time signatures, and I didnt read music, whereas the rest of the Franks band did. And I was so poor at the time that I didnt even buy the records. I borrowed them from my friends, because I didnt know if it was going to work out anyway. The audition was pretty brutal, and I didnt do very well. It was like the chaos of a movie set with people moving pianos around and so on. And theres little me standing in the middle of a room with a Pignose amplifier and a Stratocaster trying to sing and play lots of Frank Zappa songs. I was so nervous. I remember doing Andy, and Wind Up Working in a Gas Station. I thought I did poorly, and I had nowhere to go. I had just flown in, and was driven to his house, so I sat there all day watching everyone else. I watched some really tough auditions, especially for keyboard players and percussionists. Before playing Watch Over you, Myles Kennedy talked about a story that happened to him in Brussels, just a day before the concert. Here is what he had to say about it on his blog : Today was supposed to be a day off. Little did we know that when we left Bilbao last evening it would be a 16 hour bus ride to our next destination. By the time we arrived in Brussels it was already dinner time and I thought the day was lost. I tried to burn off steam in the gym and then decided to find something to eat. Being that I am the most indecisive person ever, I walked around forever trying to find dinner. It's almost like this game that I play where I find a restaurant that will suffice but continue to march on thinking "I will find something better on the next block." I finally gave up and settled for some Asian fare. After finishing dinner I start my journey back to the Hotel. To be perfectly honest, I was feeling a bit melancholy as I took to the cold and damp streets feeling out of place and lonely. I haven't seen my Wife and family in six weeks. Then I heard a familiar sound in the distance. At first I couldn't make out what it was, but it was haunting and it drew me in. I desperately wanted to find where it was coming from because it was as if everything I felt inside was resonating and calling back to me. Finally, I turned a corner and realized the sound was the old familiar moan of a blues harp. The man playing it was rocking back and forth and was totally lost in the moment ...

Full Post Here: nevertoolateguitar.com Ever since I first saw Crossroads when I was a kid, I thought the Pignose 7-100 amplifier was pretty cool and wanted one (along with a Fender Telecaster). Well here I am (many) years later and taking up the guitar again and the Pignose 7-100 popped back into my mind and I picked one up. The amp is pretty crunchy right off the bat. If I have the volume on the guitar turned down with the Pignose volume all the way up I can get a somewhat clean sound, but not at very high volume. And by somewhat clean, I mean not all that clean. Once you start inching the guitar volume up it gets crunchier and crunchier.

When we have nowhere to rehearse, we have to get creative. So we just set up a makeshift drum set using pots, pans, cereal boxes, a snare, and something to function as a kick drum. Anthony plugged into the little Pignose amp that we have (phenomenal in these kinds of situations), and we went to town. Got several songs recorded in the same fashion, but we were most impressed with this one because the song is one of our heavier, more electric songs, and it came out pretty well as an acoustic jam.

Danelectro delay and eq pedals are used. Mic is a vintage 50's Conrad dynamic tape recorder mic. The pignose is sitting on a copy of Adam's book "Mr Satan's Apprentice" for added Mojo and better bass response! :)
