In this video I show a Conrad "Stereophonic" all-tube reel-to-reel tape recorder that I turned into an amplifier bitchin! I found in the white network, is unity, born in 1950 or early 60s. I simply removed all the mechanical parts, engine, etc, with the drive of the valve, re-wired to the input jack to connect to had to do when the heads of the tape were originally wired, and presto!
