This is my first stab at a harmonica performance on YouTube. "Rhapsody In Blue" is my favorite song by George Gershwin so I thought that I'd try a diatonic version, first acoustic and then amplified. I'm using my little Pignose amp with a Green Bullet mic and a plastic cup. It's a bit thin because my orchestra didn't show up to give me some support!

This is what happens when we get a little bored in Key West. Shot, produced, and edited by the one and only Gary W. Ek. Redawg assisted, and so did my buddy Mark, who you see at the end. he was the "amp wrangler" Interesting experiment in natural effects generation and phase shifting.
My good old Pignose finally died here due to the unaccustomed humidity and years of use. Though the electronics were gone, and lower cost replacements bought I wondered what to do with this classic old machine. I came up with the idea to gut the insides and make an electric ukulele out of it. While not the perfect medium, it looks amazing and sounds better than I ever dreamed. Not a wall-hanger by any means. I will experiment further and let you judge the final result... Video #2 Starting the build. Took less than 24 hours....
FINALLY..we have a good recording hard and software..we bought some new recording soft and hardware, so..from now on we deliver fuckin Quality to you, yeahhhh
First Song on Steve Earle's second album, Exit O. Challenged by his corporate rulers that he wouldn't be able to write a follow up album to Guitar Town while constantly touring, Steve turned up the volume and cranked out a string of brilliant tunes depicting life in America, or Steve's life on the bus.... depending on your vantage point.
In this video I salute Joe and Dawn Harless who make one of the very BEST line of harmonica microphones to be had!I am playing a Shaker dynamic mic using a small Pignose amp that uses 6 (AA) batteries and a Hardwood Harmonica in the key of low F with Lee Oskar reedplates. The backup track is fromThe Ultimate Blues Jam in the key of (C). bluzharp.tripod.com
Before playing Watch Over you, Myles Kennedy talked about a story that happened to him in Brussels, just a day before the concert. Here is what he had to say about it on his blog : Today was supposed to be a day off. Little did we know that when we left Bilbao last evening it would be a 16 hour bus ride to our next destination. By the time we arrived in Brussels it was already dinner time and I thought the day was lost. I tried to burn off steam in the gym and then decided to find something to eat. Being that I am the most indecisive person ever, I walked around forever trying to find dinner. It's almost like this game that I play where I find a restaurant that will suffice but continue to march on thinking "I will find something better on the next block." I finally gave up and settled for some Asian fare. After finishing dinner I start my journey back to the Hotel. To be perfectly honest, I was feeling a bit melancholy as I took to the cold and damp streets feeling out of place and lonely. I haven't seen my Wife and family in six weeks. Then I heard a familiar sound in the distance. At first I couldn't make out what it was, but it was haunting and it drew me in. I desperately wanted to find where it was coming from because it was as if everything I felt inside was resonating and calling back to me. Finally, I turned a corner and realized the sound was the old familiar moan of a blues harp. The man playing it was rocking back and forth and was totally lost in the moment ...
